Kohara Kokun is a Japanese painter and woodblock print designer from the Meiji era to the Showa era.

The design is based on Kobayashi Kiyochika's "Cat and Lantern." In Kiyochika's work, a mouse is hiding inside the lantern, while in Kokun's work, the mouse escapes from the lantern, and the cat captures the moment.
